    Tokyo Hydrogen Vision (thumbnail)

    The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been working to promote the use of hydrogen energy to realize “Carbon Half” by 2030, a decarbonized society by 2050 beyond that and the stable energy supply.
    In March 2022, we formulated the “Tokyo Hydrogen Vision,” which illustrates the vision for 2050 and the direction of hydrogen initiatives toward 2030.

    We are encouraging private sector initiatives by providing subsidy programs and other support programs for fuel cell vehicles, hydrogen refueling stations that supply hydrogen to these vehicles, and equipment that enables the use of hydrogen energy in homes and buildings.

  • Legacy of the Tokyo 2020 Games

    During the Tokyo 2020 Games, hydrogen was utilized for the Olympic cauldron, some of the torches for relaying the Olympic flame, and some facilities in the Olympic Village. Post-Games, the Olympic Village has been further developed as part of a legacy urban development initiative.
