How TOKYO LIP BALM Is Made
2 Production of Lip Balm Ingredients and Hydrogenation
At Nikko Rica Corpotation’s Tatebayashi Plant, purification is performed using hydrogenation technologies developed through years of experience and expertise. In this process, polyisobutene is hydrogenated to create hydrogenated polyisobutene, a moisturizing ingredient that becomes part of TOKYO LIP BALM.
① Tokyo-produced "green hydrogen" from the Tokyo Keihinjima Green Hydrogen Production Facility is transported to the factory.
② To perform hydrogenation using "green hydrogen," polyisobutene is added to a reaction vessel.
A catalyst is also added to accelerate the chemical reaction.
③ Heat and pressure are applied to the hydrogen, polyisobutene, and catalyst in the reaction vessel.
This is a critical stage in the hydrogenation process.
④ The hydrogenated polyisobutene undergoes processes such as filtration and concentration, resulting in a moisturizing ingredient, which is used in TOKYO LIP BALM.
⑤ Finally, the product undergoes quality inspection before being shipped.
